Insignia
Tom Raines was always a nobody. His dad gambles all their money away and it is a struggle just to find a place to stay. He skips school and gets money by betting on games.
Now he is given a chance to be a somebody. As World War 3 continues, Intrasolar Forces asks Tom to join them because of his gaming skills that can have the potential of being useful.
Now Tom has new opportunities, friends and routine but is being “property” of the Intrasolar Forces worth it?
I struggled to read this book. I have read other reviews and people say it was a good read. In my opinion, it wasn’t really my type of book.
Sure, there were funny parts and I expected some action in this book especially since it takes place in World War 3 but to be honest, not really much was going on.
I couldn’t connect with the characters. They all seemed dull and unmemorable. Nothing too special about them. Where are there goals and personalities?
There were also these long speeches in their classes that I couldn’t care less about. Sure it gives us a little history and what kind of world they were in but I think the author could have found another way to give us that information without boring us to death.
In the end, I didn’t finish the book so I guess I don’t really know what my full response to Insignia is.
Overall to me it was a meh kind of book. I might try it again but this is a book I would recommend if you are really really bored. 2.5 out of 5
