City of Heavenly Fire
In this dazzling and long-awaited conclusion to the acclaimed Mortal Instruments series, Clary and her friends fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary’s own brother.
Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Infernal Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell.
The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris – but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?
When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim have ever known is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee – even if their journey takes them deep into the demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned…

The final book of one of my favorite series. Needless to say, the book was great.
Unlike the other books, I actually didn’t want to rip my head off. It was definitely more comfortable to read rather than, say, City of Ashes and City of Class.
If you were on top of this book, you would probably have heard of the spoilery things that Cassandra Clare released. One of them was that 5 or 6 (?) characters we knew by name would die in this book. I’m glad to say none of my favorites died.
Jordan was one of them and it actually happened very early on in the book. It was…a shock. That he would just…go. In Maia’s arms. Killed by Sebastian. I mean, sure, why not?
Speaking of Maia, you know when she was acting weird and whatnot? Yeah I was so confused about what was going on. Then she said that she didn’t love Jordan anymore? I was hit by a brick once again. They were so normal and all that but that she suddenly wanted to break up? Like…I understand that he was bad to her but…I guess it was because they just seemed so right.
Oh yes. Emma and Jules. Everyone is adoring them. Except me. I couldn’t care less about those children. Well…in the Prologue at least. I wanted to read about Magnus and Izzy and them people. As the story went on, I grew a liking for them.
When Sebastian was dying and he turned into like…this “real” Sebastian, I felt like it was fake. That, no way. He had such a bad image and then Jocelyn was there with him, crying. I felt so bad because she could have had this happy ending with him and a happy family.
THEN SEBASTIAN SAID THERE WAS NO WAY OUT OF THE DEMON REALM AND THEN MAGNUS SUMMONED HIS FATHER AND THEN SIMONN!!! SIMON WAS JUST LIKE, YES TAKE MY MEMORIES AND FREE MY FRIENDS NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It hurt even more when Isabelle and Clary were talking about it. It brought me to realize that Simon was gone. Simon was really gone. Not dead really, but wouldn’t it be the same because he doesn’t remember? I was so happy when he came to the wedding. I saw the “bonus” comic and I was happy to see Simon with runes.
I loved how Cassandra Clare tied TID characters and TDA characters into this book. I mean, you didn’t even have to read them. But if you haven’t read them, I suggest you do and then read COHF again. Tessa and Church and Brother Zachariah will become so much more, trust me.
It all ending happily really.
As you can see, this book series to me were more about the characters. To be honest, I couldn’t care less about what happened to Idris as long as the gang was together and happy. I can’t really find what to talk about other than squeal about the characters. In the end, both plot and characters were good.
I’m not all that too excited about TDA. That’s only because of the way COHF ended. I feel like there is going to be a lot of trouble concerning Helen and Mark. I know it’s going to be reaalll stressful to read about.
Anyway, 5 out of 5. Amazing book. Farewell to the Mortal Instruments Series
