The monster showed up after midnight. As they do. But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting, the one from his nightmare he’s been had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming….

This is a realllyyyy good book. I finished it in like…two days. (Stupid homework)

I’m going straight to reviewing. The plot and the characters was in depth and emotional. I really liked the story. It took a simple idea of a kid going through family problems and just mixing in a monster.

At the beginning, I was like: seriously? The author literally put a monster in the story? It just seemed so unrealistic and childish but it turned out so meaningful.

The writing is also amazing. Every time Conor and his mom have “the talk”, I felt so sad. Seriously. Even though I just read 77 pages. (Trust me yo. I saw the page number)

Now to characters.

The monster is first of course. You only realize how much meaning he symbolizes until he finishes the stories. They seem pointless, but it just all wraps together describing Conor.

I was kind of surprised. So we’re going to be hearing stories now?

But they had a twist to it. The first one with the prince/whatever that dude was? Whoa there. Okay? Okay. He seems like a nice guy but thEN HE MURDERS DA GIRL HE LIKES WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK?! I don’t even understand. The monster says that it was a good thing because then the queen gets murdered because she was accused of murdering the girl and she isn’t a good person to rule a kingdom or whatever but whAT KIND OF LOGIC IS THIS? THIS WAS NOT WHAT I WAS EXPECTING THAT GUY TO DO.

AND TO BE HONEST, I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I WAS EXPECTING.

Back to characters: The main guy Conor. He’s one of those dudes who don’t want to be pitied. I don’t know maybe because he’s a guy and want’s to just live a normal life? Or he just has some serious issues. (haha)

Lily…okay we don’t see much of her but I still want to talk about her. According to how Conor says it, she’s the start of all his problems concerning his social life. She told her friends and everything. To be honest, I think that Conor doesn’t truly hate her as he seems. He just wants to blame it on someone.
